I can not get an accurate temp on with this thermometer. The idea is great, the execution is terrible. I have to go back to my old digital thermometer every time. This thermometer said that my child did not have a temp, but they felt very hot. I took their temp again, after rereading the instructions. It still said that her temp was normal. The old fashioned digital thermometer said she had 101.7. It was not worth the money.

The idea of a no contact thermometer sounds great. But the technology just isn't there. I have an older "slow read" digital thermometer that has to be placed under the tongue. It's proven to be very accurate by takes 30 seconds to get a reading. With restless impatient sick and feverish children you can imaging this isn't the best solution. A 1 second read no contact thermometer that I just point two to three finger widths from their forehand sounded perfect. However, when my child had a fever of 100.0 according to my old thermometer this one read at 98.1. I tried several times and read all the instructions. It was always reading low usually two degrees low sometimes more. It would be perfect but the technology just isn't there. Don't spend the money.

This east to use digital thermometer offers 3 modes of operation: room temperature, object temperature and body temperature. The reading is displayed quickly, too! The object temperature mode can be used to check/verify the temperature of household utensils with hot surfaces.
