I take when I feel a cold coming on and it stops. viruses from reproducing so your immune system can get rid of them. It works very well. You can google sambucus to find the studies done on this. I haven't had a cold in the 5 years I have been taking it and I used to get them all the time. Do not take if you are allergic to honeysuckles
