Tape & Glue

When you look around the home, garage, or workshop, it's easy to see just how useful tapes and glues are for 'keeping our lives together' on a daily basis. When you need to attach something, patch them up, or make repairs, look to CVS® for your taping and gluing needs.

Types Of Tape

Duct tape is one of the most iconic and versatile kinds of adhesive tape with a fascinating and storied origin, dating back to the days of WWII. A munitions factory worker, Vesta Stout, invented what we now know as duct tape. Typically, colored grey, duct tape was first named 'duck tape' because the base material was a fabric called 'cotton duck' used to reinforce it. Nowadays, there is an expanding variety of colors, and even graphic patterns as uses for duct tape expand, limited only by imagination and ingenuity. People use it for traditional applications like sealing seams in ducts, as well as to makeshift repairs, and arts and crafts.

Box seal tape (also called packing tape) is the best tape to seal boxes of all types. It is indispensable for when you are moving homes and have boxes to pack, box up seasonal items in the garage or storage locker, or taping down bubble wrap and closing up the package when you need to ship things.

Electrical tape is most often used to insulate items that conduct electricity, such as wires and connectors. Non-conducting such as plastic or vinyl tape is the base material.

Types Of Glue

White glue, or PVA multi-purpose glue, such as Elmer's Glue, is for bonding porous lightweight materials such as cardboard, cloth, and paper. Water-based, quick-drying, easy to clean up, and its low toxicity make white glue a long-standing favorite in art classes, schoolrooms, and crafts.

Superglue (also known as cyanoacrylate adhesive) bonds very quickly to a range of materials, including ceramic, glass, leather, metal, some plastics, and wood. Creating a strong bond and drying clear, super glue can set within seconds to minutes, depending on the formulation. It dries clear and is waterproof.

Hot glue is suitable for both porous and non-porous surfaces. It has a high viscosity and can bond uneven surfaces together. Also ideal for filling gaps, hot glue is usually applied with an electric-powered glue gun.
