How to get it

Reviewed 6 years agoI think the change is that they added potassium citrate. It makes the glucose tablets taste bitter and AWFUL. I had a bottle at home that had a few left in it. I compared ingredients and the older one didn’t contain potassium citrate. I will continue to look for the older kind that DOES NOT CONTAIN POTASSIUM CITRATE.

Reviewed 9 years agoNew Formula is awful
With two teenaged boys with Type 1 Diabetes, we go through a lot of glucose tabs. Our go to was the grape flavored "CVS Pharmacy" brand with Dex4. In January, we picked up a bottle in new packaging: "CVS Health" and the boys started complaining that the taste was off and they didn't work as fast. Upon comparing the ingredients between an old bottle and new bottle, I found the new packaging covers a new formula which includes "a trivial amount" of Hydrogenated Vegetable Oil. Never mind the fact that the hydrogenated oil is a trans fat, but adding even a trivial amount of oil to a medical product that is supposed to be pure sugar (dextrose) seems poorly conceived. Even trivial amounts of oil add up when your kid with diabetes has to take a lot for a sports induced low. Please change the formula back! Until then, I'm switching to Smarties (the candy): pure dextrose, no trivial amounts of trans fats and a lot less expensive.

These glucose tablets are a great price, great value, and do just what they are supposed to...raise your blood sugar.
