After a recent surgery I have been dealing with a painful and sore neck which causes frequent headaches.
A good cold compress helps as it numbs the tight / spasming muscels. I've tried many brands but this one -- assuming it's the same as the one I have which does have a sleeve with Velcro and inside reads "CVS Deluxe Cold and Hot Compress" -- is easily the best.
It stays cold for longest (out of all my pliable cold packs) and has the best texture. Don't be fooled by the "pearl" style cold packs -- they only stay cold for like 10-15 mins. This pack stays cold for more like 30-40 mins. It had a great consistency, it's like play-doh or something.
I didn't find the Velcro strap useful (not gonna fasten it around my neck), but it would be good if you were using it on your arms or legs.
Please note -- I found a similar item in cvs recently for $5 on sale. The $5 item is not quite as good and doesn't have the Velcro strap but is still decent. Keep in mind while shopping.

Ive used the product twice for my pain both hot & cold & it works better than I thought it would. Im very happy to have gotten it & will get some more to have in the house for others in my family.

except for the fact, if you need to place it on your foot, the gripper bands do not work. Other than that it does what the packaging says. Easy to use on your arm or leg(these are the only places I have tried, except for my foot).

This product accomplishes that which it is intended to do, namely; relieves immediate pain. The relief of the pain is also lasting for awhile and enables a person to move and to accomplish a few chores; yet, one must remember that it is pain relief and not injury abolishment.

a must for strains / muscle soreness
i have one of these after being injured when training.
they heat up really quickly in the microwave. i haven't used them in the freezer / cool side but the heated method is great. really quick, really simple and it maintains the heat for quite a long time.
