Cheap meter, seems OK, but no control solution to confirm
I purchased this meter because it was inexpensive and came with a lancet device. I thought it would be a good investment until my insurance company decided what it would cover for me. It's easy to use and I have only had 2 minor issues with the test strips. However, the instructions clearly state that you should test the meter with a control solution that is NOT INCLUDED. I will say that this is clearly written on the outside of the package and I just missed it. So... I went back to CVS a few days later and spoke with the pharmacist and then the store manager. Ultimately I was informed that the control solution was an online/call in only purchase. When I went to the website I did find out at the bottom of the description of the meter that if you call a number they will send you the solution free of charge, I just wish this information was noted on the packaging somewhere (not just "sold separately") so that I didn't waste my time going back to the store to try and get it. I will now have to wait until business hours to find a resolution. I should have paid the extra $20 and gone with a name brand meter. Apparently if I had a name brand one then the pharmacist could have helped me with ordering products that I needed. Bottom line - I got what I paid for.

Great product
I thought I'd give this unit a try when a promotion came up in October 2015. Am I glad I did. It's accuracy has been consistent and repeatable. For the price of the unit and the test strips, I can't think of a better unit. I researched the manufacturer and they are very reputable. I am happy with my purchase and will continue using this product and the CVS test strips for the foreseeable future! Great value!

I find it to be accurate
I've tried several popular meters and I find the CVS Advanced to be the most accurate. First, results are repeatable. Most of the time, I get the same value when I repeat the test (pricking a different finger or the same one). I also took a reading right before a lab test, twice, and in both cases the CVS Advanced gave a reading two or three points higher than the lab reading (CVS Advanced read 96, lab test result 93). Note that occasionally I get a weird value. When I repeat the test, I get a value that I would expect. I think there are a number of possible reasons for this, including some food particle on my skin or possibly it's just a limitation of inexpensive meter. Not sure.

equals blood glucose on lab tests
just became diabetic i noted many poor reviews here but i think the mistake is comparing to other meters and assuming they are accurate this meter compared to blood test from blood draw sent to lab at least on two occasions may need to run controls to see if accurate for control range - otherwise return it fairly easy to use agree with statements about lancet however but that is not the monitor itself

Inaccurate and difficult to use
I took 4 measurements in short succession on different fingers: 113, 218 (!), 98, 106. Good thing that I am not using this meter to dose insulin shots. It's also worth mentioning that I used up 10 test strips to get 4 readings. The test strips are extremely sensitive to the angle that they're being held to the blood sample. Get the angle wrong, the strip soaks in the wrong places and you'll see "Error 2". The included lancing device did not meet expectation either. I have never had such a hard time with another lancing device to get a sufficient blood sample, even on the maximum depth setting. Pro: the test strips are a steal, and the included carrying case is super compact. It's about half the size of the carrying cases of brand-name meters such as the one touch ultra or the bayer contour next.

Don' use this meter
We tried this meter to save a few dollars. We got what we paid for a very poor meter. My wife is a type 1 Diabetic with highly variable blood sugars. She started having a lot MORE problem. When we compare the CVS meter to the othermeters she has we found out why. The CVS meter was on average 50 points higher than the others. Therefore when she took insulin to correct she was over medicating. This meter should not be used by a type I diabetic and probably not by a type 2. It should be taken off the market in my opinion.

Strip not accurate at all
I just tested and it read 195 used another strip it was 89. I bought these strips on Saturday and expiration is 04/2016. I thought that was odd just off the shelf and it is only good for four months. Makes you wonder where they have been stored all this time
