Reviewed 9 years agoThis is a great product
I have used several meters over the years and when CVS came out with this product, I thought I would give it a shot. I have been nothing but happy with this product. I have read the reviews and was a little concerned when others were saying that their meter was inaccurate, but I decided to give it a try anyway. One thing that I have learned from my diabetes educator is that you should never compare your readings to other meters. I took my meter with me the last time I went to the doctors and my CVS reading was extremely close to the lab reading. I think that this is an excellent meter, especially for the price, and I have not had any issues with accuracy. I would definitely recommend this product to others.

Like other reviewers, I can vouch that this meter is inaccurate. Sometimes higher than my other meters, sometimes lower, so it's not consistently inconsistent. Don't rely on this product!

Reviewed 9 years agoInaccurate readings
I've been using a one touch ultra for years, but wanted to save money on my testing supplies. The strips are a lot cheaper with this unit even after my insurance. However, after extensive testing using both meters, I realize I can't depend on this meter to accurately monitor my blood sugar. I tested on different hands and used the same blood source in both meters. The one touch readings were always within 3% of each other while the ADVANCED meter varied by 5-10%. Also, the Advanced meter was always significantly lower than the one touch using the same blood. I can't in good conscience recommend this unit. I'll stick with the one touch meter.

As many have discussed, this meter can sometimes be a little inaccurate. I have yet to experience any huge inaccuracies but I have at times retested myself because the results were 10 or so away from my usual results for that time of day. I am very concious about my diabetes right now. I control my carbs carefully. my readings are usually in the 90-110 range, so I can't comment to the accuracy at higher readings. The cost of this meter is cheap. The strips are very very reasonably priced. I have yet to experience any issues with strip failure. The only complaint i have is the lancer isn't very good. You'll be lucky if the first 3 settings break the skin. Also as many have mentioned it does not come with control solution. there is a phone number to request control solution on this website. I have owned this meter 1 month. Overall, I would recommend this meter to anyone who is having trouble paying for their testing supplies, and doesn't usually have problems with very high or very low blood sugars.

It's not accurate. I can get readings much higher than my other meter. Also, I get very different numbers when I retest with a new strip. So not only is it inaccurate overall it's not even consistently inaccurate.

Reviewed 9 years agoMeter is not reliable and failing
I have used a meter from the same maker (AgaMatrix) under the Kroger brand for years, and it has been trouble free - both the meter and the strips. However I switched to this meter as it was a step up in model, and the strips cost less than even Kroger's competitive price for their base meter... and I honestly do not like the Walmart Relion system at all for low cost testing (strips okay - meter is a joke) However the meter is failing within 2 months, and the strips don't have a good capillary action - in other words they don't suck in the blood sample like the nearly identical strips from Kroger (these are NOT compatible with the lower line meter from the same maker). Now for accuracy, I haven't had any bad issues - and I consider that a plus. But the savings in strips is offset by the need to retest due to strip problems. I also need to insert the strip multiple times for the meter to come on (the failure issue). I have a 100 count pack of strips still sealed - not sure if I will even bother obtaining a replacement meter after I use those up. The maker of this meter really dropped the ball, and I am sure the same will apply to the other popular store branded versions of this meter. Note, despite having a USB port on the meter, it is not supported by software. it is a subscription service.

Reviewed 9 years agoIsn't accurate
This meter gives me readings well over my normal readings. I thought I had pre-diabetes, so someone suggested I purchase a CVS meter and so I did. I can test back to back with my CVS meter and with other meters that are confirmed more accurate. Those results are lower while the CVS meter readings are much higher. I'm sure others will find this meter does well for them. But I'm agreeing with several folks who've written earlier reviews where these devices are not accurate. On a positive note: it's inexpensive and so are the test strips. But I don't know if that's a plus if your readings are off.
