Can You Use Blink Eye Drops With Contacts?
Contacts can help you see comfortably without the hassle of glasses, but they're also one of the most common sources of dryness. This dryness occurs more readily when you wear your lenses for a long time or use certain types of contacts less permeable to oxygen.
Blink Contacts eye drops are suitable for most soft and rigid gas-permeable contacts. Other Blink products may also be okay to use with contacts, but it's best to check the product directions, as formulations vary.
Do Blink Eye Drops Have Preservatives?
Most Blink eye drops contain a preservative called OcuPure, which is only included in minuscule amounts to help prevent bacteria and other microorganisms from growing in the product. While OcuPure helps avert eye irritation by keeping your eyes clean, sensitivity can occur to the ingredient. Luckily, this is rare, so you're unlikely to have a problem using Blink products to keep your eyes comfortable.
If you're sensitive to preservatives or simply want to avoid them, it may be better to choose a preservative-free product, such as Systane COMPLETE or Refresh Relieva. However, these eye drops only last a few months after opening, so they're not as ideal if you use them infrequently.
How Often Can I Use Blink Eye Drops?
Blink dry eye drops can be used several times throughout the day, and you can even apply them daily for many weeks or months if necessary. Follow all package directions, and check with your optometrist if symptoms persist after 72 hours or if you're experiencing dryness but don't know the cause.
Dryness from relatively harmless triggers, such as staring too long at screens or exposure to airborne allergens, should respond well to eye drops. If it doesn't, or if you find yourself reapplying eye drops frequently, this may signal that you need a more potent product, such as Blink Triple Care.
