If hair has not reached the desired lighter shade, reapply mixture as before. Note the time required to reach the ideal shade by reading the timing guide below. You will need to know this when you do the full process. Remove overcap and rinse mixture off test strand and highlighting cap. Rinse and dry mixing tray, plastic styling hook/applicator, overcap, and highlighting cap. Application instructions: be sure your hair is dry. If your hair is freshly permed, wait at least two weeks before frosting and be sure to shampoo it 2 days before you frost it.1. Put on your highlighting cap comb hair straight back or in the style you like it. Put on the highlighting cap and tie it snugly. Tuck hair in under the cap if it slides out. Based on the effect you selected from the "customize your hair" section of the package instruction sheet, pull strands of hair through the holes by pushing the hook through the hole, picking up a strand of hair and pulling it through with a half turn. For delicate, fine frosting, use the metal hook. For a more dramatic look, use the plastic hook. After you've finished, gently comb each strand out so you are sure the entire strand has been pulled through. 2. Create your frosting mixture. Put on gloves, thoroughly mix all lightening powder and all frosting developer in tub. Next, unscrew the cap of frosting protective creme tube and pierce open completely with the point provided in the other end of the cap. Do not point either end of tube towards face while opening or using. Now add the entire contents of the tube to mixture and stir thoroughly using applicator end of plastic styling hook/applicator until you create a thick, creamy mixture. 3. Apply mixture to dry hair, before applying, double check the strands you've selected to frost. To frost, use the applicator end of the styling hook/applicator to apply mixture generously. Use gloved hands to spread mixture evenly over the length of the hair. Loosely pile strands on head (do not press down on highlighting cap) make your timing checks, using the strand test as your guide. For each check, use a different strand, remembering to re coat each strand, until your hair is light and free of strong yellow or gold tones. Ideally, it should be pale yellow. Once strands have achieved the ideal lightness, leave the highlighting cap in place and rinse off mixture with lukewarm water. Then, gently remove highlighting cap and discard it along with any remaining mixture. 4. Shampoo after rinsing off lightening mixture and removing highlighting cap, re wet hair. Open the shampoo packette, apply to wet hair and work into a creamy lather. Then rinse thoroughly and style as usual.
