Berry Granola Cereal and Bars

Start your day with the delicious flavor of berry granola. Berries are full of antioxidants and vitamins, while grains in granola are an excellent source of protein, fiber and other nutrients, helping provide energy for a fast-paced yet healthy lifestyle.

Should Berry Granola Be Refrigerated?

Mixed berry granola typically contains dried fruit. Not only does the drying process concentrate the unique, tangy flavor of berries, but it also helps ensure they continue to taste great without refrigeration.

While you typically don't need to refrigerate loose granola or bars, an exception is if you've added milk, yogurt or other fresh ingredients. In such cases, if you can't finish your meal, you can refrigerate it for later — provided it hasn't been out for more than 2 hours (or 1 hour if the ambient temperature is above 90 degrees Fahrenheit). If these time limits have been exceeded, discard the granola.

Which Berry Granola Bars Are Healthy?

Most berry granola bars can be an incredibly healthy addition to your diet, especially if your diet includes plenty of other vitamin and mineral-rich foods, such as leafy greens, fresh fruit, dairy and lean meat.

One popular product is Made Good's mixed berry granola bars, which contain vegetable extracts in addition to currants, raspberries and other delicious berries, for enhanced nutrient content. The bars help provide up to 20% of the recommended daily value of several nutrients, such as vitamins A and D, ensuring you get enough daily. They also contain no nuts and are made in an allergy-free facility.

Do Berry Granola Bars Go Bad?

Berry granola eventually goes bad, but it generally lasts a long time. It's common for loose granola cereal and bars to have a best-before date anywhere from several months up to a year while unopened. Once opened, the product may last a few weeks before it tastes noticeably stale. Check the packaging of the specific product for more information.

What Is the Best Way to Eat Berry Granola?

One of the best things about berry granola is its versatility. Bars make great snacks as-is, and you don't have to do anything with them, but you can use cereal in several ways, depending on what you're craving on any specific day.

Combine the berry granola with milk or yogurt in a bowl for a simple way to enjoy the cereal or pieces. If you're feeling more adventurous, consider adding a chopped banana or sprinkling some grated dark chocolate on top. When consumed before a protein shake, granola can also help provide the carbohydrates needed to fuel your next gym session.
