Exudate management - For moderately to heavily exuding wounds Aquacel Ag Hydrofiber dressing is sodium carboxymethylcellulose with 1.2% ionic silver. It offers the unique gelling properties of Hydrofiber technology with the power of ionic silver. The dressing fibers of Aquacel Ag gel on contact with wound fluid by hydrophilic action. The fibers swell as they lock bacterial exudate away from the wound by vertical wicking1, creating a large fluid absorption capacity2. Aquacel Ag dressing can kill a broad spectrum of wound pathogens in the dressing that can cause infection including MRSA, VRE and pseudomonas aeruginosa and aids in reducing the wound bioburden3. Bacteria and other harmful wound exudate components are locked within the gelled Aquacel Ag dressing fibres1, where the ionic silver contained within the dressing kills them3.Clinical benefits

Cleanse with a gentle, non-toxic cleanser, such as SAF-Clens AF or Shur-Clens. When using Aquacel Ag ribbon dressing in deep cavity wounds, leave at least 2.5cm (about 1 IN) outside the wound for easy retrieval. Pack wounds only up to 80%, as Aquacel Ag dressing will expand to fill the wound space as it absorbs exudate. Choose an appropriate cover dressing to secure Aquacel Ag ribbon dressing. For wounds with heavier exudate, use an absorptive dressing (e.g., Versiva XC Gelling Foam dressing). Aquacel Ag ribbon dressing may be left in place for up to 7 days or changed as frequently as needed. Aquacel Ag ribbon dressing with strengthening fiber is designed to provide a pain-free removal and to come out without breaking. Gauze dressings can adhere to wounds, causing pain and trauma upon removal.
