TENS (Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation) is a method of pain therapy that uses low-voltage electrical current for both acute and chronic pain relief.
The Beurer EM38 TENS belt can be strapped around your waist to directly treat areas of back pain; you'll find that it is comfortable to wear and there is no messing with individual skin electrodes.

What is TENS?
TENS (Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation) treats the area directly by working in harmony with your body to alleviate both acute and chronic pain. The low voltage electrical current travels through the electrodes and into the skin stimulating specific nerve pathways to produce a tingling or massaging sensation that reduces and suppresses pain signals from reaching the brain. It also helps your body produce highers levels of its own natural painkillers, endorphins.
4 Contact Electrodes
There are 4 large water contact electrodes made of conductive carbon material that are built into the back belt. Before each use, ensure that your skin is clean and free of creams or oils to ensure good contact from the electrodes on the skin. The electrodes need to be moistened with water before they are applied. The electrodes will last the lifespan of the belt.
Treatment Types
There are 4 programmed applications. All differ in both time and intensity and are are suitable for back pain relief. Each program lasts no more than 30 minutes. You can pause and subsequently resume the treatment if you want. Should the intensity appear to be too high for your comfort, you can decrease the intensity at any time or switch off the unit by pressing the on/off button
The intensity of the treatment can be set between levels 0 and 20. If the electrodes have no body contact, the intensity is automatically set to 0. This prevents unwanted stimuli from occurring. Depending on the intensity level you select, you will first feel a tingling sensation that can rise to a muscle contraction.
Application
Before each application you should make sure that your skin is clean and free from creams or oils. Moisten the electrodes and your back with water. Make sure that the electrode surfaces are evenly moistened to avoid stress spots when applied to your skin.
Detachable Control Unit
The detachable control unit with LCD display shows clear symbols to give you precise information about battery status, intensity level, the selected program and time remaining in the currently selected program.
Adjustable Belt Sizing
The belt is suitable for both men and women with fully adjustable sizing and a velcro fastening. An extension strap is also included if the belt is not adequate for your waistline. Waist size 30 - 55 inches (including extension strap).

The EM38 has 4 channels & 20 adjustable intensity levels for you to choose from, ensuring maximum comfort & customized pain relief. The belt has 4 water contact electrodes, which eliminates the need (& additional costs) of replacement electrodes & contact gel, and is completely reusable.
