L'Oréal Paris Self-Tanner

With L’Oréal Paris’s range of self-tanners, you don’t have to expose your skin to harmful ultraviolet rays to get a nice tan.

Are L’Oréal Paris Self-Tanners Good for Your Skin?

Many believe that people look healthier with a tan, but a real suntan from the sun isn't healthy. Every time you expose your skin to the sun, UV rays penetrate and damage the outer layers of your skin. At best, it could lead to long-term skin damage, such as wrinkles. At worst, regular exposure to the sun may cause skin cancer.

The sun isn’t the only source of harmful UV rays that should be avoided. Tanning beds and sun lamps also cause UV radiation that may lead to skin cancer.

With L’Oréal Paris self-tanners, you can achieve a natural-looking tan without any harmful UV ray exposure. This is better for your skin in the long run than soaking up the sun.

How Do L’Oréal Paris Self-Tanners Work?

L’Oréal Paris’ Sublime Bronze self-tanning facial drops, self-tanning mist spray tan and most other self-tanning products contain the active ingredient dihydroxyacetone. DHA reacts with the skin’s surface amino acids to deepen its color, giving you a tanned appearance.

It’s best to build up to your ideal tan by applying the self-tanner lightly the first time. Your tan needs a couple of hours to fully develop, so wait before applying the next layer. This allows you to see which areas need a more intense application, ensuring an even, streak-free tan.

What to Know Before Applying L’Oréal Self-Tanners

Self-tanners don’t offer protection from the sun. Whether you have a natural tan, a self-tan or no tan, always wear sunscreen with an SPF of at least 30 to protect your skin from harmful UV rays.

Test the product you intend to use on a small area first. This helps you check for possible skin reactions and gives you an idea of what color your self-tan will be. Self-tanners may produce different color results for different people.

After applying a self-tanner, wait until it’s completely dry before putting on clothes as it may stain while it’s damp. Don't swim, shower or break a sweat the first couple of hours after application. The easiest way to accomplish this is to apply the tanner shortly before bedtime.

How Long Do L’Oréal Paris Self-Tanners Last?

The color from self-tanning fades gradually as your skin naturally sheds cells. Self-tanning products work best when applied to clean, exfoliated skin. Exfoliation removes dead skin cells, allowing the product to go on more smoothly and the tan to last longer. To maintain your tan, reapply your L’Oréal Paris self-tanning product from time to time.
