Essence Highlighter

An essence highlighter is a type of accent makeup that brightens your face; many highlighters also add a shimmery finish that reflects the light. Some of the brand's highlighters, including the one in the Contouring Duo Palette, come in a more matte finish for a look that's bright but not sparkly. 

There are a few different ways to use essence highlighter. To revive your skin during the day, use highlighter sparingly; dab a small amount onto the corners of your eyelid next to your nose, or place a dot just above the center of your mouth. For a luminous glow, highlight the places that have the most exposure to light. Pull the product from the top of your cheekbone back toward your temple to make your cheeks look sculpted, or dust it onto your nose and chin. 

Choose your highlighter color strategically; for a bronzed look, try essence Pure highlighter. A pink-toned option, such as essence Blush Lighter, can add color and shine to your cheeks. 

Highlighter is the last step of your makeup application; wait until you're finished with foundation, contour and blush. When you're applying essence highlighter, a medium-sized makeup brush gives you control. The denser the bristles, the more color the brush can pick up. Glide the brush over your face, working gradually until you achieve the right level of shimmer. 

For a more relaxed glow, mix a bit of highlighter into your moisturizer or primer. Apply it all over your face, and complete your makeup as usual to tone down the effect.
